When I got the invite to watch the screeners for the upcoming season Unsolved Mysteries, I couldn’t reply fast enough.  I grew up watching the original and while I am currently watching the other two seasons, I can say…season 3 looks even better.

Title: Unsolved Mysteries: Vol 3
Episodes: 9 x 45 minute episodes
Genre: True Crime/Mystery/Documentary
Platform: Netflix
Release Date: October 18, October 25, and November 1, 2022

Synopsis: Immersive, character-driven stories are rooted in the experiences of ordinary people who have lived the unthinkable. This series uses re-enactments and interviews to retell the circumstances of, well, mysteries that are unsolved. Covering crimes, tales of lost love, unexplained history and paranormal events, families, detectives and journalists hope viewers hold the clues and can provide information that might solve the mystery.

Directors: Directors: Skye Borgman, Gabe Torres, Clay Jeter, Robert M. Wise, Joie Jacoby, Donnie Eicher

Executive Producers: Terry Dunn Meurere, Shawn Levy, Josh Berry

Before we get to my top 5 reasons to watch, let’s check out the trailer.

Top 5 reasons to watch Unsolved Mysteries Vol 3:

  • the stories — everything from a group UFO siting and paranormal activity to missing loved ones, unexplained deaths, and a “suicide” riddled with evidence of foul play
  • the participants — not only do the stories come straight from family/friends, but there are a journalists and experts interviewed as well
  • the storytelling — a mix of interviews and recreations, the story unfolds in a cohesive (and sometimes deliciously slow) way
  • the mystery — okay, so it’s in the title, but I was a little stunned that some of these stories are still unsolved
  • the nostalgia — I love that the theme song has been updated, but remains the same and the flash of Robert Stack in the opening was a nice touch

Huge thanks to Netflix for the invite to watch. Unsolved Mysteries Volume 3 is going to be released over three weeks.  Episodes 1-3 drop October 18, 4-6 on October 25, and 7-9 on November 1.

Will you be watching this show? Did you watch the original?
