The time it was a monthly recap {42}

Posted July 1, 2019 by Stacee in Monthly Recap, Signings | 4 Comments

You guys.  June is officially over.  How did that even happen? I am excited to say that SDCC is just over 2 weeks away and it’s about that time to start making plans and a schedule and all that. Also? Stranger Things!!

Anyhoo.  Time for the June recap, ready? Settle in.

Last month, I read a total of 17 books.

So far I’ve read 105 books this year and I’m pretty happy with that.  I set a low goal {for me} of 150 books and it’s been really nice not feeling so pressured to read a book a day.

  • Berkley spoiled me with an arc of Not the Girl You Marry, a finished copy of The Wedding Party, an arc of The Bromance Book Club, and an arc of Waiting for Tom Hanks

  • Quirk Books sent a paperback copy of We Sold Our Souls
  • Viking sent a hardcover copy of American Predator
  • St. Martin’s Press sent an arc of Under Currents + rad, matching nail polish

Fierce Reads sent There Will Come a Darkness and Vow of Thieves, a very good friend spoiled me with an arc of The Beautiful, Tamara Ireland Stone sent the most gorgeous box for the paperback edition of Little Do We Know, I was spoiled by a few publishers and sent some mass market romance, and Inkyard Press sent an arc of The Speed of Falling Objects.

Special stuff:

  • The Mutiny: May and June favorites {I was super behind on posting May’s Mutiny, so both went up in June}
  • Star Wars Land: a recap of our reservation for Galaxy’s Edge

  • Over a year ago, I moderated Demetra Brodsky’s launch party for Dive Smack.  I have obviously been lagging on transcribing it, but I recently went into my phone to start and found that when I got a new phone, the recording didn’t copy over. Soooo, these are a couple of the photos from the event.
  • I’m really quite disappointed by this because Demetra’s talk was amazing and heartfelt and Dive Smack is good good good.

  • Fangirling over: Alisha Rai, HelenKay Dimon, Pierce Brown, Chuck Wendig, and I’m moderating an event with Aminah Mae Safi, Bridget Morrissey, Emily Wibberley, and Austin Siegemund-Broka
  • Special Stuff: it’s SDCC time! I have no idea what we’re doing, except I know that LMM is going to be there and I’m ready to camp out.

How about you? How was your June? What was your favorite read for the month?

  1. Wow! It looks like June was a fantastic month reading wise! 17 books! And mostly 4 or 5 stars! That’s amazing! I’m about a third of the way through The Friend Zone at the moment and having a great time! It’s so funny and overall amazing so far! June wasn’t the greatest month in terms of reads for me, so I’m glad that July is looking up! I hope you have a great time at SDCC and have a fantastic July in general!

  2. I had an eARC of We Sold Our Souls and the red and black cover is so much more appealing. Ioved the book, by the way! I hope you love it, too. ?✨

      Agreed! I do love the magazine cover format, but the rest of it is sort of meh to me. I really liked the red and black — i think it’s the hardcover cover too.

      Thanks for reading and commenting!
