Hi guys! *waves* How was your August? I can’t believe summer is almost “officially” over. More importantly, it’s now officially less than a year before I see Hamilton in LA. Not that I’m counting or anything… Another month has gone by and it’s time for another recap!
Ready to settle in?
In August I read a total of 31 books. {Click on the covers for my review on GR}
There was one really strong weekend of reading, but then I didn’t feel like I was reading anything. And I thought I had a slow month, but I guess not?
I was a spoiled brat this month…
First off, I had some lovely friends gift me some lovely things. Keiko got me the special Zoella Book Club UK edition of All the Bright Places. Rachel MADE me a gorgeous, hand painted Night Court piece of tree, and Michelle spoiled me with the illustrated copy of P+P I’ve been coveting for years and some awesome Funkos.
And then there’s the publishers…
Harper Perennial sent me WTNV arcs, Penguin sent me the Marie Lu epic box of epic, Random House sent me Shuffle, Repeat. I also got a finished copy of The Beauty of Darkness from Macmillan, The Movie Version, The Romantics and a finished copy of The Graces {which I guess I haven’t taken a photo of?} from Abrams, Glitter from Random House, and Spontaneous from Penguin.
Fangirled over:
- Mary Pearson for The Beauty of Darkness
Interviewed:
- Jessica Brody for A Week of Mondays
Special stuff:
- Top Ten Tuesday:
1510 books I would want on a desert island with me. - Reading Rewind: I re-read The Sky is Everywhere
- Cover Reveal: a puzzle piece of Our Love Unhinged by Brighton Walsh
- For The Remnant Chronicles read-along, I shared my top 10 reasons to read the series
- Discussion post: all about bookstagram
- Harper Perennial sent me a lovely and official graphic to help promote the Welcome to Night Vale event. After I was done picking myself off of the ground, I realized my name was also on the WtNV website and nearly died dead. And then when I got the arcs? Yeah, my name was also on the list that Harper is sending out in the promo paperwork with the arcs.
- I got my package of season tickets from the Pantages. I’ve never had season tickets to something before, so this was pretty cool. My Hamilton tickets won’t be mailed until next year, which sort of prohibits me from rolling around with them and putting them in every IG photo ever.
- I dropped by phone {not a big deal, I do this on the daily} and shattered my screen {a huge fucking deal}
- Epic Reads had a Reading Decathlon to try and read so many books in 10 days. There were three levels and I went for gold, which meant 10 books in 10 days. I did it in 5.
- We went to Disneyland for my birthday and I got a surprise beignet! Maybe not worth mentioning, but I’ve had several birthdays at DL and I’ve never gotten this before.
- And I finally tracked down the Joker and Harley funkos from Suicide Squad.
- Fangirling over: Sabaa Tahir, Jessica Cluess, and maybe David Arnold.
- In case you’ve
been living under a rockmissed all of my tweets and mentions and posts about it: I’m moderating the Welcome to Night Vale event at Mysterious Galaxy with Joseph Fink and Jeffry Cranor. I’m a serious fangirl for this podcast and I’m a mixture between being petrified and being prepared for my head to explode. - Interviewing Jessica Cluess, Emma Mills, Jennifer Mathiu, Lisa Selin Davis, Anna Banks, and a special blog tour post for Crooked Kindom featuring Nina.
- Reading Rewind: I have no idea yet. I’m sure there’s a twitter poll coming soon.
- Discussion post: I have a few topics in mind, but haven’t drafted any, so we’ll see.
- Reviewing: {gasp!} The Women in the Walls and The Cruelty.
- We have press passes for Long Beach Comic-Con, but I don’t know if we’re going.
And how about you? How was your August? What was your favorite read of the month?
Ahh, you’ve done so many amazing things this month (minus the cracking of your phone)! I also got an ARC of THE MIDNIGHT STAR and I almost cried when I got it; I can’t wait to read ittttt!! Hope you enjoy all your new acquisitions!! Happy reading!
Ahhhhh!! YAY!! I hope you enjoy it and I can’t wait to see what you think of it.

Wow what a month! 31 books *stares dreamily into distance* life would be amazing if I could read that many books a month! I read 8
And 8 is a great number! It’s better than zero.
Thanks for reading and commenting!!
All the Night Vale excitement! I don’t usually read YA Contemporary, but I am interested in Kids Of Appetite. It looks like you had a fab birthday. Have a wonderful month of September. :)
I am irrationally excited about the Night Vale event, but I’m pretty sure I’ve made that clear.
Thanks for reading and commenting!!
You always do SO MUCH :D Ahhh. I am jealous of your amazing months. <3 Hugs. I'm glad August was good for you :D Yay. I hope September is even better. <3 And ahh, you always read so much :D Yay! I loved Like a River Glorious. <3 And ahhhh! I hope you were able to get the screen fixed, or get a new phone o.O I always fear my screen will shatter. Shudders.
I was able to get the screen replaced. The downside is that they did something to the light, so it constantly brightens and darkens on its own. Better than not being able to replace it though.
