The time it was a monthly recap {20}

Hi guys.  I can’t believe this is the recap for the first month of 2017.  The only good thing I can say right now is that I’ll be seeing Hamilton this year and I can’t wait for that…

Ready for the details? Settle in.

In January I read a total of 23 books. {Click on the covers for my review on GR}

This the first month of reading without a reading challenge, so I was intrigued by that number.  I’ll admit, it’s been nice not having the pressure of feeling like I had to finish a book a day.  I’m eager to see how many I read in February.

Riveted Lit made me scream at my FedEx guy when they delivered the When Dimple Met Rishi arc package.  Fierce Reads sent me an early finished copy of Wires & Nerve.  And I went on a Six of Crows foreign copy binge. {That’s the Serbian cover. I also bought the UK and French versions.}

My lovely friends in London got me a UK copy of Fantastic Beasts signed by the MinaLima team.  I was sent the YA Quarterly box and it had a finished copy of The Diabolic.  Bloomsbury spoiled me rotten with Emery Lord’s new pretty.

I also got Cold Summer from Gwen Cole, Little Brown sent me Stranger than Fiction, Bloomsbury sent me Breaking, and HMH sent me The Dark Room.

  • My review for We Are Okay by Nina LaCour was a featured review on Edelweiss

  • The Novl made a pretty graphic from part of my review of Frostblood

  • Fangirling over: Roshani Chokshi, S. Jae Jones, Marie Lu, and Victoria Schwab
  • Interviewing: Temple West
  • Reading Rewind: I have no idea
  • Discussion post: Ditto
  • Friday Favorites:  Ditto {can you tell that I’m sick while drafting this?}
  • Special stuff: Top 5 reasons to read The Dark Days Club series, I’m going to try to participate in Rachel’s Blogging Extravaganza again. Last year I didn’t get any farther than the self interview.

How about you? How was your January? What was your favorite read for the month?

  1. You read so many books! I can’t wait to dive into Traveler, Cashmere, and Wires and Nerves! It is kind of funny how much the cats love him even though he is allergic. I hope he isn’t too allergic…

    I really want a bookish tattoo but I can never make up my mind. Yours is awesome!

  2. YOU READ SO MUCH!!! That’s such a massive number, especially considering there was no particular challenge attached.

    Your Nina tattoo is gorgeous!! I’ve been thinking of getting a book quote tattoo or two for a while now but haven’t built up the courage (or funds) to do it yet.

      For me, 23 isn’t a lot? It felt like I was slacking off, but I sort of liked it. And thanks!! I love my Nina tattoo, it’s definitely one of my favorites.

      Thanks for reading and commenting!!

  3. I’m in awe of anyone who can read that many books in a month. I’m also hugely happy when anyone reads a Jane Austen novel- I hope you liked it! You got so many pretty books too. I’m also allergic to cats. I think that attracts them to people. It’s like being human catnip!

  4. It’s been a year since the last extravaganza?! Yikes! I don’t recall how many posts I managed. I love the new tat! I am hoping to to finally get a Reading Rewind up this month now that I am taking a little break from rallies and protests. I am pretty late to this post so I hope you had a wonderful February. :)
