When I got the invite to be part of the blog tour for The Dark Days Pact, I couldn’t respond fast enough. I love this series with a sickness and I was eager to get to push it on people.
Before I tell you guys my top 5 reasons to read the series, let’s check out the book.
Title: The Dark Days Pact {Lady Helen #2}
Author: Alison Goodman
Pages: 496
Pub Date: January 31, 2017
Publisher: Viking Books for Young Readers
Find it: Penguin | Indiebound | B&N | Amazon | GoodreadsJune 1812. Just weeks after her catastrophic coming-out ball, Lady Helen Wrexhall—now disowned by her uncle—is a full member of the demon-hunting Dark Days Club. Her mentor, Lord Carlston, has arranged for Helen to spend the summer season in Brighton so that he can train her new Reclaimer powers. However, the long-term effects of Carlston’s Reclaimer work have taken hold, and his sanity is beginning to slip. At the same time, Carlston’s Dark Days Club colleague and nemesis will stop at nothing to bring Helen over to his side—and the Duke of Selburn is determined to marry her. The stakes are even higher for Helen as she struggles to become the warrior that everyone expects her to be.
Sounds good, right?
Top Five Reasons to read the Lady Helen series
Lady Helen is a BAMF. She’s smart, she’s skilled, she literally kicks ass. I loved being in her head.
Lord Carlston is rigid like Mr. Darcy with maybe just a dash of Wickham’s merriment, and a whole lot of proper-ness. {Is that even a word? Well it is now.}
The UST is so thick and it’s absolutely delicious. Besides being proper English society members, Lady Helen, Lord Carlston, and the group are demon hunters. So let’s pair that together and you can bet there are loads of longing filled glances across the room {my favorite} and probably maybe some forbidden kissing.
The tagline — from Alison is “Pride and Prejudice meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer in English high society.” I mean, come on. Is there a better description out there?
Because I said so? — I’m just dipping my toe into historical books, but P+P has always been my favorite. This series is filled with everything you love about the Regency era while being immersed in a fantasy story.

Alison Goodman’s most recent novel is The Dark Days Pact, the second in the Lady Helen trilogy of supernatural Regency adventures. The first book, The Dark Days Club, was a finalist in the 2015 Aurealis Awards and listed as an NPR Best Book of 2016. Alison is also the author of the award winning and New York Times bestselling duology EON and EONA, Singing the Dogstar Blues and her very adult thriller, A New Kind of Death.
Alison holds an MA in Creative Writing, can dance a mean contra-dance and will travel a long way for a good high-tea. She lives in Australia and is currently working on the third Lady Helen adventure.
