The time it was a monthly recap {38}

Posted March 1, 2019 by Stacee in Monthly Recap | 6 Comments

You guys. It’s March and I don’t understand where the time went.  I sat down to draft a version of The Mutiny and realized it was actually the first, so I’m probably going to skip a February edition.

Anyhoo, it’s about that time and I will say I’m impressed that I’ve posted a recap two months in a row. Ready for the shenanigans? Settle in.

Last month, I read a total of 18 books.

I’m pretty happy with this number.  I’ve been trying to be more mindful of what I’m requesting and with my low {for me} GR challenge, it’s been nice to not feel so much pressure to read.  If I want to take a night or two and binge something or sleep, I absolutely do.

I’ve also noticed that I’m requesting and reading more romance.  Before it was sort of a palate cleanser and now I’m finding that it’s what I’m really in the mood for.  I don’t expect to ever shy away from YA completely, but there’s definitely been a shift.

  • Tamara Ireland Stone sent me the loveliest box with Click’d and Swap’d.  It included all sorts of pretties, but I loved that sticker the most
  • Fierce Reads sent me We Hunt the Flame and I spent about 20 minutes slooooooowly peeling that sticker off
  • And in one day, I got Kingsbane, Serious Moonlight, and The Princess and the Fangirl
  • I also got Everlasting Rose from Disney, Call it What You Want from Bloomsbury, the Bloodwitch box from Tor {that I still need to photo properly}, Bloodleaf + goodies from HMH Teen, When the Sky Fell on Splendor fro Penguin Teen, and I treated myself to a signed and personalized copy of Wicked and the Wallflower.

Fangirled over:

Special stuff:

  • Fangirling over: people! March has Ontario Teen Book fest {which I think I’m going to} and WonderCon {which I know I’m going to, but have no idea who will be there}
  • Interviewing: Demetra Brodsky, Emily Henry, Stephanie Garber, and Emily A. Duncan
  • The Mutiny: Yes.
  • Reading Rewind: Yes. Probably.
  • Discussion post: Perhaps.

How about you? How was your February? What was your favorite read for the month?

    I’m reading Death Prefers Blondes right now as well as Here Now and Then (best time travel story so far for me EVER) and finally finishing Julie Kagawa’s Talon series this month (I love to the feel the covers). February has been a bit stressful for us as we are completely remodeling our family room and kitchen. But squishing into only half of our house since the beginning of January actually has been livable, especially when I’m seeing the awesomeness that will be very soon.

      I lived with my sister during her remodel and it was hideous! I hope the time goes by quickly for you. I also love the covers of Julie’s series — they’re gorgeous.

      Thanks for reading and commenting!

  2. Jealous of Kingsbane! I had two ARCs of Furyborn, but haven’t gotten the second one. :-( I hope I get one, but we’ll see. I’ve been trying to do better about requesting as well. I find that I read a lot of romance, it’s quick and easy to get through, but I still love the YA as well. You got a lot read this month! You can check out my February wrap up in the link below.

      To be honest, I haven’t read furyborn yet. I don’t do well with high fantasy, so I’m waiting for some reason… I’ve heard so many amazing things though.

  3. 18 books is amazing! And I’m so excited for Serious Moonlight! I can’t wait to hear what you think about it!

    Also, have you watched The Umbrella Academy on Netflix? I just started watching it and I’m curious how it compares to the comics/graphic novel. Plus the show is pretty awesome in general!

      I loved Serious Moonlight, but was expecting to. And yes, I’ve watched the show. There are some differences between them, but the overall story is the same.

      Thanks for reading and commenting!
