The time it was a monthly recap {27}

Posted September 1, 2017 by Stacee in Monthly Recap | 3 Comments

You guys. August is over and we’re officially getting into fall territory.  In SoCal, that really means that summer is going to be a bitch and make a vicious comeback with 100+ degree weather.  At least we’re getting closer…I’m getting my scarves ready.

You know the drill. Settle in.

Last month, I read a total of 21 books. {Click on the covers for my review on GR}

It was a pretty slow reading month for me.   I’ve neglected a lot of things this month because RL was winning.  It was my birthday and Hamilton and there was a funeral and a wedding and a lot of family and work stuff and and and… I’m behind on mailing stuff and beta reading and I’m hoping to get back on track asap.

Tor Teen sent me a finished copy of Ferocious {that I haven’t taken a photo of, so here’s the arc from Paula}, Harper Perennial sent me an arc of the new WTNV book, and Jennifer L Armentrout sent me a goodie box complete with a finished copy of her new book, an arc for a giveaway, a Book Beau, a candle, and necklace.

A lovely friend sent me All the Crooked Saints, I won Not Now, Not Ever from Wednesday Books/Goodreads, and The Novl sent me an arc of Night of Cake and Puppets.

Skypony Press sent me finished copies of League of American Traitors and The Bakersville Dozen. Penguin Teen sent There’s Someone Inside Your House. Bloomsbury sent No Filter and More Than We Can Tell.

Interviewed:

  • We went to Hamilton for my birthday weekend.  I think I’ve told everyone that I was able to get eighth row seats and the show was amazing.  I’m thrilled I didn’t cry.  I bought all of the merch {including a sippy cup} and tried so hard not to sing along out loud.
  • We spent the rest of the weekend doing a bit of exploring.  We headed up to Laguna Beach and took the car ferry in Newport Beach and just had the best time.
  • Sort of off topic…I’ve added the BlogLovin’ follow button again. Email subscription has gone way down and even without the button, I’ve seen growth on BL, so it’s back.  FYI: I will be keeping the RSS feed at a preview.

  • Fangirling over: Adam Silvera, Tamara Ireland Stone, Marie Lu, and Kristen Cashore
  • Interviewing: Cat Winters and Krystal Sutherland
  • Reading Rewind: I have the book picked out and it’s been sitting on my coffee table for a month now. So yes. Hopefully.
  • Discussion post: I just outlined the topic, so it should happen.
  • Special Stuff: various blog tour stuff for Warcross, Moxie, The Language of Thorns, Things I’m Seeing Without You, Wild Beauty

How about you? How was your August? What was your favorite read for the month?

  1. Sorry I have not been around, but you are getting one of my lovely comment vomiting sprees, now, ha ha. I have all of the Jackaby books, so I can do a binge read. I am going to have a no new ARCs year next year so that I can get to all of my backlist ARCs and a lot of personal reading. Which means I will finally get to do some Reading Rewinds! My son just finished reading the Divergent series and he was pointing out things that never registered with me when I read it, so I think that will be my first one.

    Happy belated birthday, and I am glad you got to see Hamilton!

    I follow my favorite blogs via email because I follow too many on Bloglovin’ and it is utterly confusing. I always click through to the blog though. I had to change my RSS to only show posts to the jump cut because Blogger had started showing our entire posts on their site, and no one was clicking through. My blog hits went down by about 2,000 a month. I was frantic trying to figure out what happened!

    I hope you had a wonderful September. I will be looking for your recap. :)
