The time it was a monthly recap {26}

Posted August 3, 2017 by Stacee in Monthly Recap | 6 Comments

You guys. It’s August.  I don’t even have anything to say besides that.  Not like you weren’t aware on your own, but whatever.  I digress.

You know the drill. Settle in.

Last month, I read a total of 26 books. {Click on the covers for my review on GR}

Okay, so one was a DNF, one was a novella {without a cover on GR}, and one isn’t up there because it’s a round two beta read.  I stand by that number.  And honestly, I’m a little impressed because there was almost an entire week I didn’t even touch a book.

Fierce Reads kept the spoiling tradition and sent a gorgeous sampler and hand crafted wooden bookmark for The Language of Thorns.  Sourcebooks Fire sent a super cute summer/beach package that included a finished copy of Coming Up for Air.  Annnnnnd I broke down and bought the new paperback cover of the Grisha books.

Penguin sent me A Line in the Dark. My local indie Mysterious Galaxy made my entire year by letting me know they had The Becoming of Noah Shaw set aside for me. Bloomsbury sent me Reign the Earth.  Also, hello three random hand photos with different backgrounds. :D

And Penguin kept on with the spoiling!!  They also sent me a sampler for There’s Someone Inside Your House {complete with crime scene tape and delicious custom M&Ms}, Things I’m Seeing Without You, Beasts Made of Night, and A Semi-Definitive List of Worst Nightmares.

Fangirled over:

  • Lots of people at SDCC {including David Tennant!!}

Interviewed:

There are two giveaways going on right now:

  • On IG: there’s an SDCC giveaway with a crap load of things to win {ends 8/9/17 and will be deleted eventually}
  • On Twitter: there’s a Warcross mailing giveaway because apparently I forgot that I had this stuff {ends 8/13/17}

  • Fangirling over: Danya Kukafka {perhaps, I need to read her book first} and more likely, Leigh Bardugo
  • Interviewing: Emily Lloyd-Jones and Kara Thomas
  • Reading Rewind: Probably.  Yes.  If I can get my shit together.  I already have the book picked out.
  • Discussion post: Perhaps.  See above answer, minus the book.
  • Special Stuff: I’M GOING TO SEE HAMILTON THIS MONTH.  We’re going to Vegas this coming weekend, so who knows what that will bring.  And we’re staying up in LA for my birthday weekend {also Hamilton opening night/when we’re going} and going up to Ojai to see Bart’s Books, which is an outdoor bookstore.  As always, you can follow my personal life shenanigans here.

How about you? How was your July? What was your favorite read for the month?
