You guys. Where has the year gone? I can’t believe this is the last recap for 2016…well, not technically. I’ll still be doing the mega end of the year survey thingy, but you know what I mean.
Anyhoo. Here we go with December. Settle in.
In December, I read a total of 37 books. {Click on the covers for my review on GR}
December was a crazy month and it was really my make or break time stretch to try and complete my Goodreads challenge. So, yeah. I might have cheated a little by reading the Harry Potter short stories and a novella, but I’m still counting it. Besides, everyone on Twitter was telling me to read comic books or children’s books to get it done, but I didn’t give in to that temptation!
I was a spoiled brat this month!!
Stephanie Garber surprised me with a UK arc of Caraval. HarperCollins sent me a gorgeous finished copy of The Fate of the Tearling. Penguin sent me a finished copy of Crystal Storm and arc of Empress of a Thousand Skies. Griffin Teen sent me an arc of A Crown of Wishes {complete with lovely note from Roshani.} Fierce Reads sent me the Lunar Chronicles coloring book. Entangled Teen sent me Violet Grenade and Lost Girls. Bloomsbury sent me Letters to the Lost.
Thanks to Jennifer Niven and a successful books for trade, I got my coveted holy grail arcs of All the Bright Places. Thanks to Erin, I bought all of the Jane Austen vintage classics. And thanks to Mary I got a fantastic No Mourners No Funerals bookmark. And the lovely Cait from A Page with a View sent me the prettiest package of stuff, but apparently, I only posted photos to stories and don’t anything saved. {SOBSOBSOB}
Fangirled over:
- Jennifer Niven and Jay Asher for Holding Up the Universe and What Light

- COMPLETED MY GOODREADS CHALLENGE. I wasn’t completely sure this was going to happen, but I’m sort of blown away that it did.
- Found out I went to Disneyland 86 times in two years
- I ended the year ranked #54 out of 100 on GR top reviewers list. I was actually number 51, but it only updates once a week. Regardless, this is the highest number I’ve gotten to and I’m insanely excited to consistently be in the top 100.
- Asked some really important questions: new sheets vs new socks, chocolate ice cream vs vanilla ice cream, and waffles vs pancakes
- Fangirling over: Kami Garcia, Jonathan Mayberry, {maybe} Susan Dennard, Alexandra Bracken, Stephanie Garber
- Interviewing: Stephanie Garber for Caraval and Kasie West for By Your Side
- Reading Rewind: I think I’m going to read Magnolia by Kristi Cook
- Discussion post: Yes? Probably. I have a topic outlined, I just need to take the time to do it.
- Friday Favorites: I don’t know. Another round of emails went out and I haven’t gotten responses yet.
- Special stuff: I might be getting a tattoo. I’ve wanted one on my finger for a while and I have an idea, but I’m not sure I can commit to it. I have an appointment on Friday, we’ll see what happens.
How about you? How was your December? What was your favorite read for the month?
I SO need to get blood of wonderland. I have those as the she writes press versions but I’m excited to read them again.
I hope you enjoy it!
So I originally came down here to say CONGRATS on the Goodreads challenge yayyayayayay but then I saw the tattoo thing and am now even more excited about this :D
I am excited too!! {Even though I don’t know what’s going to happen}
Well done on completing your GR challenge for the year!! (even if you did sort of half-cheat, totally fine). I’m super impressed that you’re sticking it in the top 100 on Goodreads and EIGHTY-SIX VISITS TO DISNEYLAND? Well done, my friend, well done indeed.
Yeah, I’m not worried about the 3 short books in December. 3 out of 367 seems pretty good to me. :D
Yeah, we do go to Disneyland a lot. Both of us were expecting a number well into the hundreds. I guess we’ll have to try harder in 2017.
Thanks for reading and commenting!!
I am super curious about your idea for a finger tattoo. I almost didn’t make my Goodreads goal either so I went back and read three books I had set aside past the 50% mark. Ha ha. Your photo of Fate Of the Tearling is beautiful.
I think I must have had a dream about Six Of Crows because I swore the ebook was on sale and I bought it, so I was all excited to read it and when I looked in my Kindle library it wasn’t there. O____O
I didn’t get the finger tattoo. I just can’t commit to it. However, I talked to my artist about it and he told me I should just do it, so I’m not ready to share what my idea is because there’s still a chance it’ll happen and I don’t want anyone to steal the image yet.
Okay, that SoC part was pretty amusing. I hope you get a chance to read it soon!
Thanks for always reading and always commenting.
<3
God damn, you got a lot of reading done in December :D You are the most amazing Stacee. <3 Wish I was able to read that much too, haha :) I'm glad that December was amazing for you. <3 All the hugs. Loved this recap :)
