The time it was about The Square Root of Summer

So, normally when I’m part of a blog tour, I’ve already read and loved the book… This blog tour is a little different in a few ways.  First off, I haven’t read the book.  It came super highly recommended by someone I trust and I just haven’t had a chance to get to it.  I’ve had it in my purse for about a week now. I’m dying to get to it.

Secondly, this is a bit more creative than a normal blog tour with the standard interview. Before we get to all of the awesomeness, let’s check out the book.

SROS_FINAL_CVRThis is what it means to love someone. This is what it means to grieve someone. It’s a little bit like a black hole. It’s a little bit like infinity.

Gottie H. Oppenheimer is losing time. Literally. When the fabric of the universe around her seaside town begins to fray, she’s hurtled through wormholes to her past:

To last summer, when her grandfather Grey died. To the afternoon she fell in love with Jason, who wouldn’t even hold her hand at the funeral. To the day her best friend Thomas moved away and left her behind with a scar on her hand and a black hole in her memory.

Although Grey is still gone, Jason and Thomas are back, and Gottie’s past, present, and future are about to collide—and someone’s heart is about to be broken.

Sounds good, right?

right

And now the awesomeness! Since who you are at a specific point in time and time capsules are part of the book, this blog tour was sort of set up like one.

Each blogger was given a set of questions to answer in late Feb/early March and then we had to answer those questions again right now.  We also had to share something we would include in a time capsule.  Added bonus? I get to share one item that Harriet would in her own time capsule.

  • What Brings You The Most Joy In Life?
    • Feb/March 2016: Doing fun stuff with my husband and friends. Bonus points if it’s something book related.
    • May 2016: Tonight I would say hotel beds because we just got back from YallWest and the bed in the hotel we stayed in was absolutely amazing.  I wanted to pack it up and take it home with me.
  • What Are You Reading?
    • Feb/March 2016: I just finished re-reading Anna, Lola, and Isla by Stephanie Perkins and I am painfully in love with those books.
    • May 2016: I’m halfway through Hamilton: The Revolution and painfully behind on review books.
  • What Is Something You’re Really Looking Forward To?
    • Feb/March 2016: All of the upcoming book festivals: FOB and YALLWEST
    • May 2016: SDCC!!
  • What Is One Thing That’s Worrying You?
    • Feb/March 2016: Starting to pay back my student loans
    • May 2016: That I won’t be able to get out of bed in the morning because I was boxing last night.
  • What Is Something That You Always Have With You?
    • Feb/March 2016: A book and my Kindle
    • May 2016: A book and my Kindle and my phone {I don’t know how I forgot that}
  • What Is Something That You Wish You Could Change?
    • Feb/March 2016: I wish Disneyland had longer hours so I could go more than once a week.
    • May 2016: I would still say ditto, but with summer coming, the longer hours are almost here, so… for an immediate change, I wish I still had the ice cream sandwich I just finished.

And now Harriet shares her item:

bottle

The week after Square Root went on submission, in January 2015, my agent and I had eight back-to-back meetings with publishers. We stopped for lunch quickly, I ordered a ginger beer, and this is what turned up – serendipity! Magic! A sign! An amazing souvenir to remember that week forever.
