the time it was about what I’m watching {10}

it’s been a while since we’ve gone to the movies.  and by “a while”, I mean the last movie we saw was Emma, right before lockdown.  we finally decided to get our movie passes back and we have sort of gone crazy: all of these were seen in august.

so…here’s what I’ve been watching: movie theatre edition

deadpool + wolverine — are you tired of hearing about this one yet? we saw this about a week after release and it was fun. I think we probably would have been screaming about it like everyone else if we would have seen it right away.

twisters — I love the original so very much and I was eager to see what they were going to do with the story.  for me, it really delivered. Added bonus was the tornado graphics were so much better.

trap — as soon as I saw the “what if there was a serial killer at a Taylor swift concert?” I was in, but this was a bit of a letdown.  I expected more tension, more build up, and a way better ending that I got.

kneecap — this was a movie Hubs wanted to see and I reluctantly went (because those are the rules.) based on a true story and played by the people involved, this movie was funny with characters I couldn’t help but root for and had me looking up Irish hip hop music afterwards.

cuckoo — I don’t think it’s a secret that I love an unreliable narrator and watching the trailer for this one had me equal parts low key scared and absolutely thinking wtf. I went in blind and that’s really the way to do it.

borderlands — neither of us know anything about the video game, but the trailer for this movie looked loud and so much fun and that’s exactly what we got…plus cate blanchett.

strange darling — another movie we went into after only seeing the teaser trailer and we both loved it.  this story is “a thriller told in six chapters” and it is disjointed and bloody and I highly recommend it.

blink twice — I did a deep dive into reviews and spoilers before seeing this movie due to the content warning the studio released and even knowing everything, some scenes were really hard to watch. did knowing take anything away from the story? perhaps, but for me, it would have been horrible to go in blind.

have you seen any of these movies? do you plan to?
