You guys. It’s been months since I did a recap. I’ve been trying trying trying to get back into the swing of things and I think I’m back for the most part. I don’t have the ambition or time to set up all of the past months, so we’re just going to jump in with January.
Settle in.
Last month, I read a total of 14 books.
- Broken Things by Lauren Oliver — 2 stars
- The Way You Love Me by Miranda Liasson — 2 stars
- One Tough Cowboy by Lora Leigh — 1 star
- Velvet by Temple West — 5 stars
- The Wrong Highlander by Lynsay Sands — 4 stars
- Invictus by Ryan Graudin — 3 stars
- 99 Percent Mine by Sally Thorne — 4.5 stars
- Truth or Beard by Penny Reid — 3.5 stars
- Mr. Hunt, I Presume by Valerie Bowman — 4 stars
- We Told Six Lies by Victoria Scott — 1 star
- The Bride Test by Helen Hoang — 5 stars
- A Scot in the Dark by Sarah MacLean — 5 stars
- The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi — 2 stars
- The Good Ones by Jenn McKinlay — 3 stars
I’ve decided to make a small {for me} yearly challenge. Last year I only hit my goal because I lowered the number at the last minute. I want to make 2019 about reading more of what I want and trying not to feel so much pressure for reviewing. I’m going to be more mindful of what I request.
- Disney sent me a finished copy of Undying by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
- Wednesday Books sent me a signed and finished copy of The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi
- Fierce Reads sent me an early finished copy of King of Scars
- Berkley sent me an arc of The Bride Test by Helen Hoang
- Simon Teen sent me a bound manuscript of There’s Something About Sweetie by Sandhya Menon
- William Morrow sent me a finished paperback of 99 Percent Mine by Sally Thorne
I did get a couple of other things, but haven’t taken proper photos of them, so I’ll share them next month.
Fangirled over:
- Kiersten White for Slayer
- Holly Black for The Wicked King
- A.G. Howard for Stain
- Brigid Kemmerer, A.C. Gaughen, and Mimi Yu — I moderated this event so I need to transcribe the recording
Special stuff:
- The Mutiny: first post, best of 2018, January favorites
- Reading Rewind: Velvet by Temple West
- 5 Reasons to Read: The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi
- Fangirling over: Leigh Bardugo, Robin LaFevers, and Mary Pearson
- Reading Rewind: Very likely.
- Special Stuff: blog tour for Death Prefers Blondes, The Mutiny
How about you? How was your January? What was your favorite read for the month?
I love the format of your wrap up! I’m also super glad that The Bride Test and 99 Percent Mine were two of the better books you read this month, since I plan on reading both of those ASAP. My reading month was pretty solid in January, but I’m not planning to read to much in February since I’m now back in school instead of on vacation. So even though I read 12 books this past month, in February I’ll be happy with 5 or 6.
Thank you! And I hope you enjoy Bride and 99! Good luck with school and thanks for reading and commenting. :D
