Hi guys! Can you believe another month has gone by? I just can’t wrap my head around the idea that it’s actually summer and that SDCC is officially next month.
Ready to settle in for the recap?
In May I read a total of 35 books! {Click on the covers for my review on GR}
May was a good month for reading! I had several 5 star rated books. The downside to that is that I’ve been in a perpetual book hangover.
Jennifer Niven sent me the prettiest package with a bound manuscript of Holding Up the Universe, the lovelies at Tor Teen sent me Vassa in the Night and Bloomsbury sent me Lauren DeStefano’s upcoming MG. I was also able to get my greedy hands on Gemina {among others} at YallWest, a gorgeous pack of arcs from Macmillan, and Stealing Snow from Bloomsbury.
Fangirled over:
- A lot of people at YallWest
- Roshani Chokshi, Amy Tintera, Debra Driza, and Shannon Messenger for their new books
- Leigh Bardugo, Marie Rutkoski, Harriet Reuter Hapgood, and Cecelia Ahern for the Fierce Reads tour
Interviewed:
- Sarah Jude for The May Queen Murders
- Robin Constantine for The Season of You and Me
- Colleen Oakes for Queen of Hearts
- Lori Goldstein for Circle of Jinn
- Lynne Matson for NIL on Fire
- Paula Stokes for Girl Against the Universe
- Nina LaCour and David Levithan for You Know Me Well
- Melinda Salisbury for The Sleeping Prince
Special stuff:
- A guest post about time capsules and The Square Root of Summer from Harriet Reuter Hapgood
- I posted my first discussion post about DNFing books. {I was surprised at how many people responded to this and I’m not sure if it was the topic or that it was a discussion post. Would you guys be interested in more of them? I have a few ideas…}
- I hit 5k on Instagram! Thank you all so much for following and your likes and comments. I never thought I would hit that number, let alone have over 3,000 entries for the celebration giveaway.
- I also got my Six of Crows tattoo. The stencil is here and the finished tattoo is here.
- Fangirling over: Nina LaCour and David Levithan, Kiersten White and maybe Grady Hendrix
- Interviewing: Lauren Gibaldi, Sarvenaz Tash, Virginia Boecker
- A super special read along of Mary Pearson’s books. This is detailed and will span the next 3 months, so yeah. Details to come.
- Reading Rewind: I completely forgot to read Unearthly, so I will be doing it in June
- I’m participating in the B-Fest weekend being held at Barnes and Noble in Oceanside, CA. I’m definitely moderating a panel about social media, but there may be other things too. I’m not sure what sort of recap there will be, but I’ll for sure post some photos on this account.
What about you? How was your May? What was your favorite book?
35 book! That is impressive!
The Long Game by Jennifer L. Barnes keeps jumping out at me recently, I read her Raised by Wolves series and The Squad duology but I haven’t read any of her newer stuff in years. From your review it looks like you enjoyed it so I might have to rectify this error in my book buying ASAP.
I am not sure if The Way to Game the Walk of Shame is my kind of book but I am loving that cover, I know it is probably like 5 zillion others, but there is something about it that attracts me. *worst explanation in the word but it is just …. unexplainable!*
I haven’t read those books by Jennifer, but I read and loved her Naturals series. I don’t normally care for politics, but the Fixer series is quite intriguing. I also love the cover for WtGtWoS and yes, it was pretty much what you would expect it to be. :D
Thanks for reading and commenting!!
I can’t believe it is now June! You read so many books this month. Very nice! I love the tattoo! I want a literary tattoo at some point. :D
I’m just stunned at how fast this year is going. Thanks for the kind words about my tattoo. Do you know what sort of literary tattoo you want to get?
Thanks for reading and commenting!
My Lady Jane! I’m so sad because I thought I’d been able to download it from Edelweiss, but it wasn’t really there, so I haven’t been able to read it yet. And I want to so bad! Looks like a pretty productive month for you! You can check out my end of the month post in the link below!
I think it was up for only a couple of days before it was pulled, almost like it was a mistake or something. I was quite afraid to read it because so many people loved it, but for me, the hype was well deserved. I hope you love it!!

35 books? That’s great. I’m a bit jealous. *sweeps her pathetic numbers under the bookshelf* I love your new tattoo! So pretty! Sounds like you had a great month, I hope June is just as wonderful for you.
Any number of books read is a good number. Thanks for the lovely words about my tattoo. I do love it.
Thanks for reading and commenting!!
Gah. You always have such AAAAMAZING months :D Lovely recap sweetie. <3 I am so jealous of your exciting life, haha :) And you also manage to read so so many books all the time, and gah. I wish I was as awesome as you. <3 Hugs. I also just read Gemina, though, so yay :D Lovely post Stacee. So glad you had an awesome May :) I hope June is amazing for you too. <3 Hugs.
Wheeeeee!!! Did you love Gemina?

I am waiting to see if they will be offering Holding Up the Universe on Edelweiss or Netgalley. All the shizz that went down on Goodreads and Twitter was the most ridiculous thing I save seen on social media, ever. I love the storyline and want to read it and give it my support. I love your new tattoo. I am partial to ravens, so it was an instant winner for me. My vote is for more discussion posts. :)
Yeah, it was pretty ridiculous. Especially considering Jennifer isn’t the one who writes the synopsis or flap copy. I loved the book and I hope other readers do too.
I didn’t realize that I had a thing for birds until recently…now I have 3 tattoos that are birds. O_o
Yay for the vote for more discussion posts! I have one drafted, I’m thinking about doing one a month, just for something different {for me}.
