when I got the invite to interview liana de la rosa for her series finale Gabriela and His Grace, I couldn’t reply fast enough. I have loved this series so much and this last book was my favorite of the trilogy.
Before we get to Liana’s answers, let’s check out the book.
Title: Gabriela and His Grace (The Luna Sisters #3)

Find it: PRH | Bookshop | GoodreadsSynopsis: As the youngest and most rebellious daughter of the overly protective Luna family, Gabriela Luna Valdés claws after her freedom in any way she can. This time, her hunger for adventure has led her aboard a windswept ship bearing for her homeland, away from a mob of fumbling British suitors. But Gabby can’t escape her father’s expectation that she settle down to find a proper husband—a compromise she’s unwilling to make.
For Sebastian Brooks, Duke of Whitfield, the trip to Mexico is his last chance. His last chance to rectify his family’s estate and refill their dwindling coffers. And his last chance to match wits with the sharp-tongued but deliciously tempting Gabriela.
When Gabby finds herself in need of a hasty escape, Sebastian agrees to assist her…but their close proximity sparks a red-hot passion that could ruin all their plans. With scandal looming, can Sebastian convince Gabby his regard is sincere or will she sail away with his heart?
Sounds good, right?

1. Please give the elevator pitch for Gabriela and His Grace.
A sharp-tongued heiress and rakish duke find themselves on a ship headed to Mexico, and the trip reveals truths—and a red hot attraction—neither of them can outrun.
2. While setting up the storyline for Gabriela, were there any plot points you immediately knew you wanted to include?
Oh, I absolutely knew that Gabby and Sebastian would have to share a ship cabin on their trip back to England! I needed them to be in a position where they couldn’t escape their attraction for each other, and sharing a ship cabin—and a bed—was just the ticket!
3. Why do you love Gabriela and Sebastian and why should readers root for them?
Gabby and Sebastian have bickered with each other since the beginning of the series, and their mutual dislike of one another is well known. But when they’re together, far from England, they find they have much more in common than they realized…so when their slow burn finally combusts, it’s DELICIOUS!
4. Were there any weird things you googled while researching?
I spent a lot of time researching sailing times between England and Mexico in the 1860s, as well as what flora and fauna would have been present in the state of San Luis Potosí in Mexico, where part of the story takes place.
5. Without spoilers, which scene was your favorite to write?
The scene in Sebastian’s office when Gabby’s reminds him of how much powerful she is.
Speed(ish) round:
1. You find out you’re being published for the first time. Describe the next 5 minutes.
I would be frantically calling family members and texting friends to share the good news, while my husband uncorks a bottle of champagne to celebrate!
3. You can only read one book for the rest of your life. What is it?
I honestly have no idea. Limiting myself to only one book sounds so depressing!
4. What is the one thing about publishing you wish someone would have told you?
How 90% of the time you’re waiting for news of something, whether you’re querying, on submission, or waiting for edits. So much of publishing is waiting!
5. You wake up and discover that you are Bella in Twilight. You know how it plays out. What do you do differently?
I would go to college because your girl needs some life skills on top of an education. If Edward comes along, great, or he can wait until I have my diploma!
