The time it was Reading Rewind {19}

Hi guys! Here we are for another episode of Reading Rewind!

Well, I’ll admit to cheating again.  I’ve been in this weird slump type thing and lately I’ve been really hating everything I read. I’ve even stopped reading a couple of books I was really excited for because I don’t want this weird mood thing to effect {affect? I really don’t know} the rating.

So, I decided to go back to a favorite and see if that would help.

This month’s choice was Velvet by Temple West.

1. When did you originally read the book and what did you rate it?

I read it the first time as an arc in January 2015 and rated it 5 stars.

2. Why did you love it?

My very first review of it said:

This was exactly what I wanted to read. There’s snark and swoons and awesome friends {Trish FTW!} and fighting and even more snark.

I adored being in Caitlin’s head. Her inner monologue was a lot of fun. And don’t get me started on Adrian. I loved that they were together for most of the book because their banter was hilarious.

If there is going to be another book, then I’m okay with the info we got and the ending. If this is a stand alone, I will lose my shit. There are some happenings that need an explanation and some serious things that need a resolution.

All in all, it was a super fun read with characters I really enjoyed. I look forward to future works by Temple.

The review of the second read of it agrees with the first.

3. After the re-read did your rating/feelings about it change? Why or why not?

I rated the re-read 5 stars.  I am still loving this series and I’m still desperate for book 3 {which I’m lovingly calling Pleather.}

Caitlin and Adrian are so much fun together and I love their snark and banter. There’s a great cast of characters here {still 1000000% Team Trish} and I enjoyed getting to see everyone introduced into this world.

And even though I don’t remember much of book 2 {aka: Cashmere}, I do remember that wicked ending.  This time around I picked up on a few things that were definitely a set up for the rest of series.  I’m really itching to pick up my copy of Cashmere to continue this love fest, but I sort of want to stay in this limbo where I can pretend I’m not still dying for book 3.

Overall, it’s a fun and different style of vampires with so much banter I sort of want to swim around in it.  I know I’ll be binging both books before book 3, but I’m insanely happy to have finished something and loved it.

      Ha! I’m not disappointed at all! There are so many books out there, it can definitely be hard to get to all of them. I hope you read it and love it!

      Thanks for reading and commenting.

  1. Ahh, I’m having the worst luck with reading these days too. so far behind, so little energy to read. Ugh. But, thankfully, my most latest books were amazing :) And eee, I’m glad you re-read this one and loved it so much. YAY :D You make it seem pretty amazing.
