The time it was about Everything Leads to You

I have always loved Nina LaCour’s words.  She has such a lyrical way of writing that I’m pretty sure I would read her grocery list.  I was able to get my greedy hands on an arc of her newest book, Everything Leads to You and devoured it.  So, of course when I was invited to be part of the blog tour, I jumped at the chance.

Before we get to Nina’s guest post, let’s check out the book, shall we?

18667779After being entrusted with her brother’s Los Angeles apartment for the summer as a graduation gift, Emi Price isn’t sure how to fulfill his one condition: that something great take place there while he’s gone. Emi may be a talented young production designer, already beginning to thrive in the competitive film industry, but she still feels like an average teen, floundering when it comes to romance.

But when she and her best friend, Charlotte, discover a mysterious letter at the estate sale of a Hollywood film legend, Emi must move beyond the walls of her carefully crafted world to chase down the loose ends of a movie icon’s hidden life, leading her to uncover a decades’ old secret and the potential for something truly epic: love.

Sounds good, right? {Oh man, it’s soooo good.}

And now, here’s Nina discussing romance!

Emi’s relationship with her ex-girlfriend Morgan is tumultuous. Because Morgan isn’t able to make up her mind about them, they’ve broken up and gotten back together half a dozen times. Emi doesn’t want to humiliate herself by taking Morgan back yet again, but she can’t help herself: she spends far too much time hoping things will work out between them.

I’ve never had an on-again-off-again relationship. (In fact, I’ve been with the same girl since I was nineteen!) One of the wonderful things about writing fiction is that it makes me think about different life experiences and try to imagine what it feels like for people to go through things that I haven’t. However, I believe that emotions are universal, and that, in many instances, loss is loss and heartache is heartache. And I also believe that after a loss often comes an opportunity to allow in something—or someone—new.

In this case, Morgan’s belief that the world is vast, and that its vastness means she needs to move on from Emi in order to see who else is out there for her, leads Emi to discoveries she may never have made if her heart hadn’t been broken in this particular way.

  1. My greatest adventure was driving up Highway 1 from San Diego to San Francisco. It took my friends and I the whole day, but we stopped everywhere that was interesting. From emus to pastries in Solvang, it was amazing. I spent the whole day taking pictures, capturing my friends at their most natural states. It was amazing.

I haven’t had many grand adventures, but I went on a road trip to New Mexico once without parent’s permission. I was a month away from turning 18, so it was okay?

Anyway, It was pretty awesome & while I didn’t meet the love of my life on this trip, I did meet Geno, who is Native American and who’s real name is Geronimo…He was not happy when I laughed at this. But we’re still really good friends!

I traveled through the Middle East by myself. It was totally fun! This was a few years ago when things were safer.

My greatest adventure would of have to be the day I got over my fear of heights. I went to Six Flags for a school trip & enjoyed every ride. The front seat is my best friend now. A bit cliche, but hey? I was so scared of heights that my legs gave out and hands trembled each time. Roller coasters are really fun now, but I’m no where near being a adrenaline junkie. I’m still a bit scared of elevators.

I would say my greatest adventure was when my husband and I went camping and white water rafting. An experience I will never forget.

  6. Sherry

My biggest adventure? Aside from having kids, I would say my honeymoon in Hawaii. We rented a car while there and each day we went exploring around the island. The highlights include flowing lava, my first flight, 2 bottles of champagne, a can of Coke exploding in the back of the car (which we thought was a hissing snake at first), a luau that included a whole roasted pig, breaching humpback whales and my first and only time with my feet in the Pacific.

Thanks for the chance at the giveaway!

My greatest adventure would probably be when I was on a class trip to Niagara Falls for my geo class and we were going to see the landscape and stuff like that that surrounded the area and we had to hike and go through forests to get from point A to point B. On the way back, my group and I had got lost and the supervisor we had did not know where to go and we were all just walking around trying to remember how to get back and it took us like 40 mins to get back to the buses! it was so bad but so much fun :)

  8. Me and four of my friends joined this school contest called “Barkada Race” (like Amazing Race) where we answered questions, ate nasty food, ran around our campus, searched for answers in the mud and more. My body ached for a week after that but the experience was worth it and we ranked third place. :)

Flying from my home country to literally the other side of the world and spending 20 days in a totally different continent :D

  10. Last year I went for river rafting with my family. Initially I was afraid as I don’t know swimming and the water flow was too much but our instructor was awesome he totally made me forgot my fears and even made me swim little bit in the deep parts of the river :)

My greatest adventure would definitely be road trip with friends along Mediterranean coast. Best time ever! :)
    Thanks for a giveawa!

  12. Ashley Jellison

I’d have to say my greatest adventure would be going back to Italy last spring. I love the area and I finally got to go and remember it! It was really exciting and I’m looking forward to going back a few more times!

Greatest adventure, huh? Not much has happened. I guess visiting Washington D.C. and having a sniper at the White House give me the nod.
